Active Contributer to Church Emmaus Group

We knew Shirley as a friend, a neighbour, at parties, at worship, in the Falcon, and latterly as a scooter powered person to avoid on the pavements of Uppingham! However we especially knew her as a faithful member of the Emmaus house group I led for 9 years. Shirley always had a questioning liveliness about her. Not for her any easy answers to the great questions of life. Her love always showed through as she continued to explore her very real faith in God, sometimes pointedly, always authentically. Shirley was a key member of this group of people who were open to explore faith, helping to set the open tone of the group. Shirley was also a wicked (in the best sense of the word) tease. It's a phrase that is all too easily used, but Shirley really did so often have such a twinkle in her eye, which brings us back to her love of life and God. We shall long remember her, and her beloved Richard.
